Chennai: Five IT innovations developed by a five-member team comprising commercial clerks and ticket inspectors of Southern Railway have been selected as top entries in the Innovations in Public Administration challenge organized by Capacity Building Commission as part of the Mission Karmayogi programme. The innovations – Portable Unreserved Ticketing System (P-UTS), designed to issue tickets at remote stations where telecom connectivity is unreliable; Rail Partner, an Android app on train information for passengers; Rail Dhandora, an app where passengers can access all commercial circulars of railways; Rail Census, an app to conduct surveys of passenger on trains and TPMS or Ticketing Peripherals Management System, an app for lifecycle management of reservation system peripherals – will be used as a case study for capacity building of civil...
