The United Arab Emirates is planning to build its own quantum computer.The Quantum Research Centre (QRC) team at the Technology Innovation Institute (TII) in Abu Dhabi will construct the country's first quantum computer in the UAE capital, in collaboration with Barcelona-based Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech researchers.“We are at the cusp of a new era with the advent of quantum computing,” H.E. Amazon plans to reskill 29 million people worldwide for cloud-computing jobs

Now it is paying it forward by helping 29 million people worldwide retrain for cloud-computing jobs by 2025, the Wall Street Journal reported. The company committed $700 million last year to reskilling 100,000 of its own workers in the United States. The new effort will build on existing programs and include new ones in partnership with nonprofits, schools and others. Quantum computing startup IonQ today announced its road map for the next few years — following a similar move from IBM in September — and it’s quite ambitious, to say the least. At our Disrupt event earlier this year, IonQ CEO and president Peter Chapman suggested that we were only five years away from having desktop quantum computers. That’s not something you’ll likely hear from the company’s competitors — who also often use a very different kind of quantum technology — but IonQ now says that it will be able to sell modular, rack-mounted quantum computers for the data center in 2023 and that by 2025, its systems will be powerful enough to achieve broad quantum advantage across a wide variety of use cases.
